The terms 'Asian American' and 'Pacific Islander' refer to persons who can trace their original background to the Far East, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, or the Pacific Islands including Native Hawaiians. Diversity is key for this population which includes six major ethnic subgroups: Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Asian Indian, Korean and Vietnamese and thirty-two different ethnicities speaking almost five hundred distinct languages and dialects! We invite you to come and celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month with us!
Asian American Pacific Islander art and artifacts will be displayed throughout April at Meyer Library (2nd Floor) and Siceluff Hall (2nd Floor).
